On November 10th at 5:00pm I checked into the Harris Methodist to begin the process of softening the cervix. Eric arrived at 8:30pm with steak and mash potatoes from Saltgrass and boy was I hungry. I believe around 10:30pm I took a sleeping pill and Eric and I worked on filling out Kacee's baby book until I fell asleep.
November 11, 2011 - Around 6:00am they started inducing me. Things started moving really fast. My mom was the first to arrive at the hospital, followed by Gina and Deanna with breakfast. Lisa came with my dad and Cheri and before I knew it - I was dilated from a 3 to a 10 in an hour. I labored for about 40-60 mins. before asking for the epidural. The pushing was painless but I had to concentrate, Eric counted to give me a sense of start/finish. I remember I was pushing in intervals of 4 and then I would rest until nurse Dawn told me to push again.
It was amazing to have my sisters and family around me and I would not have wanted it any other way. My delivery room was more like a cheering section and I remember everyone telling me I was doing good and that they could see Kacee's hair.
I was pushing for a total of an hour. Doctor Wiley came in during the last 30 minutes or so. My family said she did an amazing job making sure I did not tear.
1:45pm - Kacee came out to me and Eric's favorite song, Can You Stand The Rain by New Edition. It's hard to put into words how I was feeling at that very moment. Eric gave me a kiss and there were lots of tears and cheering in the room. I was relieved that there were no complications and that Kacee was okay. They cleaned my little Kacee up and placed her on my chest...I remember thinking she was beautiful and that God had answered every single one of my prayers!
