On April 3, 2011 Lancaster was hit by a tornado. Two months before I saw some red flags and thought it would be in Kacee's best interest to remove her from Shakima's house in Lancaster and let Lyn's sister, Puff, care for Kacee in Waxahachie for the rest of the year.
The tornado touched down and hit Shakima's house and left it in shambles. The house was totaled and they were no longer able to live there. Kima tells the reporters of the minutes prior to, during and after the touchdown. Brings tears to my eyes to even think of Kacee in the mist of that. Kima tells reporters that she did not see the tornado coming. As soon as it was on top of the house she grabbed the kids and fled to the closet where she struggled to keep the door closed. The scary thing about this whole event was that Kacee was an infant and she was always on a different sleeping schedule then the other four kids....so Kacee was usually in a different room sleeping. I'm not quite sure Kima would have had time to grab the four kids under foot and then run to get Kacee in the other room so for me this was very emotional and I took off the next day to thank God for sparing Kacee, I thanked Him for wisdom, insight and a mother's intuition, and mostly I just wanted to hang our with my best girl!!!
God is so amazing, he saved Kacee from the tornado and she was safe and sound in Puff's bathtub.
